Tornike Rizhvadze does not have a phone, but we are constantly inquiring about his health, and we are pleased that everything is moving in a positive direction.
In response to a question regarding the case of Tornike Rizhvadze, the former Chairman of the Adjara Government, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that he has not had direct communication with Rizhvadze.
“I haven’t had direct communication because there was no technical means. He doesn’t have a phone, but we are constantly inquiring about his health, and we are pleased that everything is moving in a positive direction. As for the investigation, it is ongoing, and everything can be made public, including the footage that exists. You can inquire with the Prosecutor’s Office; nothing will prevent the release of that footage. The footage does not directly relate to this case, but it may be of interest to the public. Inquire with the Prosecutor’s Office, and they will share it,” the Prime Minister said in response to a journalist’s question.
When asked by a TV Pirveli journalist how Levan Khabeishvili, the Chairman of the Political Council of the “National Movement,” managed to meet with Tornike Rizhvadze, according to their information, the Prime Minister remarked, “If Aneta or Anita went there and met Tornike, that’s a miracle.”
“Who is Levan Khabeishvili, Anita?! Did Anita meet him? Don’t believe Anita’s gossip. I think you’re talking about a miracle. If Aneta or Anita went there and met Tornike, that’s a miracle. We are constantly inquiring about Tornike’s condition. That is our top priority. As soon as we have the opportunity, of course, our desire is to have direct communication with him,” the Prime Minister noted.
According to the Prime Minister, when he spoke about the role of the media in his statement, he did not accuse the media of driving Rizhvadze to a suicide attempt.
“When I talked about the role of the media, I didn’t accuse the media, as in, ‘this kind of media drove him to suicide.’ When it comes to the accusations that were reflected in the letter, those accusations were constantly heard on television, from the media; specific journalists were writing about them,” the Prime Minister stated.
The Prime Minister also noted that both Tornike Rizhvadze and his father are honorable men, and a rotation took place, so it is not correct to use the term that “Tornike’s father was sacked.”
“Is everyone who changes positions a bad person?! You were talking about corruption, about protecting bandits. That was never the reason for the rotation in any case. Avoid using terms like ‘Tornike’s father was sacked’ and so on. That’s not correct. Tornike’s father is an honorable man, and Tornike is an honorable man,” the Prime Minister stated.
