**Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Railway Hub for Second Night in a Row**
In the early hours of August 6, Ukrainian drones targeted the Tatsinskaya railway station in Russia’s Rostov Oblast, marking the second consecutive night that the critical infrastructure has been hit. The attack, reported by Russian independent media outlet Astra, highlights Ukraine’s continued efforts to disrupt Moscow’s supply chains and degrade its war capabilities.
Located approximately 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Ukraine’s border, the Tatsinskaya railway station serves as a vital logistics hub for Russia’s military operations. It is used to transport oil-based products and load grain from a nearby elevator. The attack on the station has significant implications for Russia’s ability to maintain its military presence in the region.
According to eyewitnesses, loud explosions were heard around 1 a.m. local time, followed by between five to seven blasts. A fire broke out at the crash site near the station, where freight tanks were present. While there have been no reports of casualties, residents of the Tatsinsky district reported damage to power lines, leaving nearly 200 people without electricity.
Rostov Oblast Governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed that air defenses had repelled attacks in four districts, with one area experiencing significant disruption due to a grass fire near homes. Three families in the village of Tatsinskaya were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that 51 drones were shot down overnight across four Russian regions and occupied Crimea, including 16 over Rostov Oblast. However, it is unclear how effective these air defenses have been in preventing attacks on critical infrastructure like the railway station.
The repeated targeting of the Tatsinskaya railway station suggests a strategic effort by Ukraine to degrade Russia’s military capabilities in the region. As a transit corridor for Russian military logistics, Rostov Oblast remains a critical area for Moscow’s war efforts. The ongoing attacks demonstrate Ukraine’s determination to disrupt these supply chains and hinder Russia’s ability to wage war.
