**Revenue Service Denounces Levan Khabeishvili’s Claims as Disinformation**
A recent claim by Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the Political Council of the “United National Movement,” has been labeled as disinformation by the Revenue Service. According to a statement released by the Revenue Service, a ship sailing under the Indonesian flag entered the Port of Batumi on August 3. However, screening conducted by the Maritime Transport Agency confirmed that neither the vessel nor its owning company is subject to international sanctions.
The Revenue Service emphasized that Levan Khabeishvili’s claim was baseless and an attempt to mislead the public. “For the purpose of informing the public, the Revenue Service once again emphatically states that the unverified information spread by the Chairman of the Political Council of the ‘United National Movement,’ Levan Khabeishvili, on social media – including claims from 2022 about an allegedly ‘escaped’ vessel loaded with sanctioned fuel – is yet another piece of disinformation,” the statement read.
**The Truth Behind the Claim**
The Revenue Service provided more details about the ship and its cargo. On August 3, a ship called “CAPIBARA” sailing under the Indonesian flag entered the Batumi seaport, carrying 15,000 tons of diesel fuel sent by one Russian company to a Georgian company. The Revenue Service clarified that neither the ship nor its owning company is subject to international sanctions. Furthermore, after verification, it was established that the cargo itself is also not under sanctions.
The Revenue Service stressed that the information provided by Khabeishvili was false and an attempt to create confusion among the public. “Levan Khabeishvili is once again deliberately trying to mislead the public with lies,” the statement read.
**Recalling Previous Claims**
To recall, yesterday Levan Khabeishvili shared information on social media claiming that a sanctioned oil tanker had entered the Port of Batumi. However, his claims were not supported by evidence and have now been discredited by the Revenue Service.
The Revenue Service’s announcement serves as a reminder to verify information before sharing it with others, especially in times when misinformation can spread quickly. As the statement read, “it is essential to be informed about facts rather than relying on unverified information.”
