**Georgia’s Business Leader Speaks Out Against Politicians’ “Shameless Propaganda”**
Mamuka Khazaradze, a prominent Georgian businessman and founder of the country’s largest construction company, Conti Group, has taken to social media to respond to what he calls “shameless propaganda” by politicians. The statement comes as part of an ongoing controversy surrounding a rental agreement for real estate owned by Khazaradze and his wife, in which the German Ambassador is listed as a beneficiary.
According to Khazaradze’s own account, the rental agreement was signed and registered in compliance with all applicable laws. However, last week, a tax issue arose due to a misunderstanding of taxation with the source. The businessman claims that they themselves brought this issue to light, and following their appeal to the tax service, the relevant registration was made, and the budget was fully disbursed.
**A Call for Transparency**
Khazaradze’s statement takes aim at politicians who he says are engaging in a smear campaign against him and his family. He asks these officials to publish their own contributions to the national budget alongside his own, which he claims total hundreds of millions of laris annually. The businessman also references the recently passed “offshore” law, under which 400 million GEL was withdrawn from the Georgian people’s pockets and the national budget.
**A Response from the People?**
Khazaradze concludes by stating that the Georgian people will ultimately give a fitting response to these politicians’ actions. This statement suggests that public opinion may be turning against those who have been accused of corruption, and that the people are becoming increasingly vocal about demanding accountability from their leaders.
