**US President Trump Threatens Tariffs on Russia if War Continues**
US President Donald Trump has given the Kremlin a 10-day ultimatum to stop the war in Ukraine. If Russia doesn’t agree, tariffs will be imposed on Russian oil, gas, and other products that are imported by countries like China and India.
According to an audio recording published by the White House, Trump said that if the Kremlin didn’t agree to a peace deal within 10 days, “we’re gonna put on tariffs and stuff.” The tariffs are expected to be secondary sanctions, which would affect countries that buy Russian products.
This is not the first time Trump has threatened Russia with tariffs. Earlier this month, he warned that the US would impose severe tariffs of up to 100% if Russia didn’t agree to a peace deal within 50 days. However, Trump has now said that he’s no longer willing to wait that long.
**Frustration Grows**
Trump expressed frustration with the Kremlin’s actions. He mentioned that President Putin had launched rockets into Ukrainian cities and killed many people, including those in a nursing home. Trump questioned why he should meet with Putin when the Russian president didn’t seem to be serious about finding a peaceful solution.
In response to Trump’s announcement, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chair of Russia’s Security Council, accused the US President of pushing the two countries closer to direct confrontation. “Each new ultimatum is a threat and a step towards war,” he wrote on X.
**Russia Continues Offensives**
Despite Trump’s warnings, Russia has continued its drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, and offensives remain active on multiple fronts. It remains to be seen whether the Kremlin will take Trump’s ultimatum seriously and agree to a peace deal within 10 days.
