**Russian Forces Launch Destructive Assault on Kamianske, Ukraine**
On the night of July 25-26, 2025, Russian forces launched a devastating missile and drone attack on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast in Ukraine. The city of Kamianske was among the hardest hit areas. According to Mayor Andriy Bilous, the Russian occupation army destroyed the only “Epicentr” hypermarket in the region.
The destruction was extensive. The Epicentr shopping center, which spanned over 11,000 square meters, was completely burned down by a fire that broke out during the attack. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries to civilians in Kamianske. However, several fires were reported near the city, and residential buildings were damaged with shattered windows.
**A Grim Reality for Ukraine’s Economy**
The destruction of the Epicentr shopping center is just one example of the devastating impact of Russia’s full-scale invasion on Ukraine’s economy. According to a statement from the Epicentr company, since the beginning of the war, seven shopping centers have been completely destroyed in various Ukrainian cities. These include Mariupol, Chernihiv, Bucha, Nikopol, Kharkiv, and two in Kherson, with a total area of over 125,600 square meters.
Furthermore, two more shopping centers had to cease operations due to damage and proximity to combat zones, while the shopping center in Melitopol was occupied by Russian forces. This is a grim reminder of the economic toll that Russia’s aggression has taken on Ukraine.
**A Commentary**
The destruction of the Epicentr shopping center in Kamianske is not just an economic blow but also a testament to the resilience of Ukrainian people and businesses. Despite facing immense challenges, Ukrainians continue to rebuild and adapt to the changing circumstances.
As we look at this situation, it’s essential to remember that Ukraine is not only fighting for its territorial integrity but also for its right to exist as a sovereign nation. The economic impact of Russia’s aggression is just one aspect of the broader conflict.
