**Tbilisi Evictions Highlight State’s Failure to Address Economic and Social Issues**

A recent eviction of families from a building on Tvatchrelidze Street in Tbilisi has sparked controversy, with Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Direction of the “National Movement” Vaso Urushadze blaming the state for failing to address economic and social issues.

Urushadze stated that the problems faced by the evicted families are “entirely the responsibility of the state from beginning to end.” He argued that the government’s flawed economic policy and corruption have led to people occupying private properties in search of housing, resulting in dire economic and social conditions. According to Urushadze, the government has failed to ensure economic prosperity and social policies, leading to the suffering of its citizens.

The government’s actions were described as “oppressive” and “not caring for citizens.” Urushadze emphasized that the government should protect the interests of its citizens, be caring and protective, rather than treating them like criminals. He criticized the government for not adhering to laws regarding family values and the protection of minors, calling it a “facade and fodder for propaganda.”

**Tbilisi Mayor’s Statement Draws Criticism**

Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze was also criticized by Urushadze for his statement that it is “unimaginable” to own land or property in the region and then seize state land in the capital. Urushadze accused Kaladze of trying to evade responsibility, saying “Let him return to Samtredia, to his ancestral land, without stolen or plundered money, and start life from scratch.”

**Government’s Anti-Corruption Efforts Questioned**

Urushadze also questioned the government’s intensified efforts in fighting corruption. He described the process as a “sham and a farce,” citing inconsistencies in the government’s messaging. The Secretary noted that while the government claims to be cracking down on corruption, it has arrested one of its own officials, Romeo Mikautadze, who was involved in corruption.

Regarding the recent suicide attempt by Tornike Rijvadze, the former head of the Adjara government, Urushadze expressed skepticism. He suggested that Rijvadze’s attempt may have been related to the imposition of sanctions against Bidzina Ivanishvili, which has a significant impact on his entourage and those close to him.

**Bidzina Ivanishvili’s “Mafia Clan”**

Urushadze described Bidzina Ivanishvili as viewing politics like he is the boss of a “mafia clan.” He stated that Ivanishvili believes that anyone who made money through his influence belongs to him, and that the time has come for him to collect the money made using his authority.
