**Russia’s Brute Force: 33 Injured in Kharkiv Attack**
A devastating attack by Russian forces on the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv has left at least 33 people injured, including several children. The assault, which took place on July 24, targeted a high-rise residential building and civilian enterprise in the Shevchenkivskyi district.
According to local authorities, two Russian glide bombs struck the area around 11:30 a.m. local time. The attack caused significant damage, with some people still trapped beneath the rubble of the multi-story building. A separate hit on an industrial facility sparked a fire, further complicating rescue efforts.
Emergency crews, including medical personnel, rescuers, and police, are working tirelessly to respond to the situation. Governor Oleh Syniehubov has confirmed that some people remain trapped under the debris, while others have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
**A Desperate Plea from President Zelensky**
President Volodymyr Zelensky has strongly condemned the attack, labeling it “completely senseless strikes” with no military objective. He emphasized that Russia’s only goal is to continue its aggression and killing, adding that Ukraine needs support for its defense, including robust air defense systems and expanded weapons production.
“This is why we need support for our defense – robust air defense systems and expanded weapons production,” Zelensky said in a statement. “All of this is essential to saving lives.”
**Escalating Attacks on Kharkiv**
The attack on Kharkiv marks the latest escalation of violence by Russian forces against Ukraine’s second-largest city, which sits just over 20 kilometers (15 miles) from the Russian border. In recent months, Moscow has intensified its attacks on Kharkiv and smaller settlements in the Kharkiv Oblast.
Just days earlier, on July 18, Russian forces targeted a residential area in the town of Chuhuiv, injuring four people and damaging their homes.
**The Human Cost**
Among the victims of the attack are a 10-year-old girl, two teenagers aged 17, while a one-month-old infant suffered an acute stress reaction. The full extent of the damage and number of casualties is still unclear, but it’s evident that innocent lives have been lost or forever changed.
