**Updated: Russian Missile Attack on Kyiv Leaves 9 Injured**
A devastating overnight Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv has left nine people injured, according to updated information from local authorities. Emergency services are still working at the sites of impact, where rescue and recovery operations continue.
The strike targeted civilian infrastructure and residential areas, causing significant damage to homes, vehicles, and utilities. While officials have confirmed multiple injuries, including shrapnel wounds and blast trauma, the exact number of casualties is still being clarified as medics assess the situation.
**Investigation Launched into War Crimes**
Local authorities are urging residents to stay in shelters during air raid alerts and follow all safety instructions. An investigation has been launched into the attack, with authorities documenting evidence of potential war crimes.
“We urge everyone to remain calm and follow official updates,” said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration. “Another woman sought medical help and has been hospitalized. The total number of injured now stands at nine.”
**Scope of the Attack**
The attack began around 23:00 on July 20, with residents warned that air defense activity might be heard. The first loud explosions were recorded at 01:33 AM, marking the beginning of several hours of continuous drone strikes across the country.
According to current information, the aftermath of the attack has been recorded in at least six districts of Kyiv, including Darniytskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomyanskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi. Fires broke out on the roof of a residential high-rise and a non-residential building in the Darniytskyi district.
**Fires Extinguished, Investigation Ongoing**
State Emergency Service spokesperson Pavlo Petrov reported that a garage complex and a preschool also caught fire in the area. These fires have since been extinguished. In Shevchenkivskyi, one person was injured and received medical assistance on-site after a fire broke out on the second and third floors of a residential building.
**Russia’s Aerial Assault**
In one of the most massive air assaults to date, Russia launched 450 aerial threats against Ukraine, including:
* 426 Shahed-type kamikaze drones
* 5 Kinzhal (Kh-47M2) aeroballistic missiles
* 4 Kalibr cruise missiles
* 1 Iskander-K missile
* 14 Kh-101 cruise missiles
Ukrainian air defense and electronic warfare units had destroyed or neutralized 224 aerial targets, with another 203 drones rendered ineffective through radio-electronic warfare systems.
