**Russian Air Defenses Foil Drone Attacks on Moscow**
In a series of intense attacks, Russian air defenses successfully intercepted drones heading for Moscow, according to the city’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin. The attacks were carried out in the early hours of the morning, with 13 drones being downed or destroyed.
Mayor Sobyanin took to Telegram to share his account of the events, stating that specialists are currently examining the fragments of the drones where they landed. While he did not provide any information on casualties or damage caused by the attacks, a review of his posts revealed that an additional 10 drones were intercepted or destroyed in the preceding 11 hours.
**Nationwide Drone Attacks**
The Russian Defense Ministry reported a separate incident where their air defense units successfully downed 87 Ukrainian drones across central, western, and southern Russia. This activity was carried out over nearly five hours, with a significant number of drones – 48 – being intercepted in Bryansk region on the border with Ukraine.
Meanwhile, acting governor of Rostov region reported that Ukrainian drones had triggered fires or knocked down power lines in several districts. These attacks demonstrate Ukraine’s continued efforts to launch drone strikes against long-distance Russian targets, particularly those associated with energy infrastructure.
**Escalation of Drone Attacks**
In recent weeks, Russia has intensified its attacks on Ukrainian cities using swarms of drones and missiles. This escalation comes amidst a broader conflict between the two nations. One notable example was last month’s “Operation Spiders Web,” where Russian long-range military aircraft were targeted at several air bases.
The success of these drone attacks highlights Ukraine’s growing capabilities in this area, with Russian forces facing an increasingly sophisticated threat from enemy drones. As tensions continue to rise, it remains to be seen how both sides will respond to these escalating attacks.
