**Estonia Sanctions 19 High-Ranking Georgian Officials**
In a move aimed at supporting Georgia’s civil society and European integration, Estonia has imposed an entry ban on 19 high-ranking Georgian officials. This decision was made by Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, who signed a directive adding the names to Estonia’s sanctions list.
The individuals targeted by this sanction include Georgia’s Minister of Justice, Paata Salia, as well as several members of parliament, prosecutors, judges, and even a former police chief. This move comes after widespread criticism of the Georgian government’s handling of peaceful protests and opposition politicians.
According to Foreign Minister Tsahkna, the sanctioned officials are directly or indirectly responsible for the persecution of journalists, protesters, and opposition representatives. He emphasized that Estonia stands in solidarity with Georgia’s civil society, independent media, and European integration efforts.
