**Former Co-Investment Fund Head Demands Investigation into Beating in Prison**

A lawyer for former Co-Investment Fund head Giorgi Bachishvili has appealed to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia, demanding an investigation into the beating of his client in prison. The appeal comes after a letter from Gldani prison described the details of the violence against him.

According to Levan Makharashvili, lawyer for Bachishvili, their client was physically assaulted on July 11 by an unknown person who entered his cell. This incident occurred just three days after he was summoned by David Gogoberidze, the head of facility No. 8, and asked to disclose sensitive financial information.

**Client’s Health in Shambles**

Makharashvili explained that Bachishvili is currently using a wheelchair due to his injuries. The lawyer described his client’s health condition as follows: “He likely has a concussion, as his motor skills are slowed, including during speech. Additionally, he is sensitive to bright light, experiences headaches and nausea. All of this developed shortly after he lost consciousness.”

The physical assault left multiple visible injuries on Bachishvili, including bruises and stitches in several places. Makharashvili emphasized that their client is ready to cooperate fully with an investigation and provide comprehensive information if one is initiated.

**Demanding a Neutral Investigative Body**

Makharashvili also stated that they have demanded the Prosecutor General’s Office of Georgia conduct the investigation, citing the abolition of the Special Investigation Service. “We believe a neutral investigative body should conduct this investigation, which in this case is the Prosecutor’s Office,” he said.

This development comes as former Co-Investment Fund head Giorgi Bachishvili released a letter from Gldani prison detailing the physical assault against him on July 11. The incident has sparked concerns about the treatment of prisoners in Georgia and the need for transparency in such cases.
