**Russian Attack on Ukrainian Cities: A Night of Destruction**
On the night of July 12, Ukraine was hit by a massive Russian attack on several cities, including Chernivtsi. The city was subjected to combined strikes using both Shahed drones and cruise missiles, targeting exclusively civilian objects.
**Chernivtsi Under Fire**
The Deputy Mayor of Chernivtsi, Yevhenii Makhovikov, reported that the main damage in the city was caused by falling missile debris and the blast wave. Unfortunately, two fatalities have been confirmed, with four more people in critical condition. The strike damaged two residential buildings, commercial property, and a kindergarten. The nine-story apartment building suffered significant damage.
**Emergency Services on High Alert**
The Deputy Mayor emphasized that all emergency services responded immediately to the attack. “It’s important to note how all the emergency services responded — all units at various levels were immediately deployed. The aftermath is currently being dealt with,” he said. Medical assistance and food were provided to residents whose homes were damaged, and transportation was made available for those who needed to relocate.
**Russian Propaganda Debunked**
As usual, Russian propaganda claimed that the strikes targeted military targets in Chernivtsi, Lutsk, and Lviv. Makhovikov noted that the enemy likely referred to the city’s kindergarten as a “military factory.” The kindergarten was closed, and children were relocated to nearby preschool facilities.
**Doctors Risk Lives to Save Child**
In a heart-wrenching story, doctors at the House of Butterflies medical center in Chernivtsi rescued a gravely ill child, Zlata, amidst explosions and incoming strikes. Despite the immediate danger to their own lives, the medical staff stayed inside and carried out emergency resuscitation.
**Other Cities Hit**
Lviv also experienced one of the largest drone attacks, with nine people injured, including an 11-year-old boy. Forty-six buildings were damaged, and over 500 windows were broken. Lutsk was also hit, with a private residential house destroyed as a result of the enemy strike. There is currently no information on casualties in Lutsk.
