**Norway and UNDP Launch $200 Million Initiative to Transform Ukraine’s Energy Sector**
In a major boost for Ukraine’s energy sector, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Norway’s government have joined forces to launch a $200 million initiative. Ukrainian Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko expressed his gratitude for Norway’s contribution, saying it was “critically important” for restoring vital services and accelerating the transition to a decentralized and clean energy system.
Norway has demonstrated its commitment to Ukraine’s energy sector by pledging an additional 42 million euros ($49 million) to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. This funding will target infrastructure protection against Russian attacks and development of more sustainable energy networks. Additionally, Norway signed a smaller agreement with the Nordic Environment Finance Corporation (NEFCO) to support energy efficiency and clean energy production projects worth 300,000 euros ($350,000).
