**Russia-Ukraine War: Latest Updates from Ukraine’s General Staff**
As of July 4, 2025, the 1,228th day of Russia’s large-scale armed aggression against Ukraine has begun. The Ukrainian military reported a significant increase in combat clashes over the past day, with a total of 148 recorded.
**Russian Aggression Intensifies**
Yesterday, Russian forces launched two missile strikes and 67 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas. They used 2 missiles and 109 guided bombs, causing extensive damage. In addition to airstrikes, Russia carried out 6,527 shellings, including 119 from multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 3,786 kamikaze drones.
**Targets of Russian Aggression**
Airstrikes were reported in several areas, including Chernihiv Oblast (Mykhalchyna Sloboda), Sumy Oblast (Novomutyn), Kharkiv Oblast (Vovchanski Khutory and others), Donetsk Oblast (Poltavka and others), Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (Filiya and Dachne), and Kherson Oblast (Mykolaivka).
**Ukrainian Forces Respond**
In response to Russian aggression, Ukraine’s Air Force, missile troops, and artillery struck 2 command posts, 4 enemy artillery systems, and 18 concentrations of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment.
**Battlefield Developments**
In the Northern-Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 Russian attacks. In the Southern-Slobozhanskyi direction, 10 combat clashes occurred in the areas of Vovchansk and Ambarne. Other significant battles took place in the Lyman, Siverskyi, Kramatorskyi, Toretskyi, Pokrovskyi, Novopavlivskyi, Huliaipilskyi, Orikhivskyi, Prydniprovskyi, Volyn, and Polissia directions.
**Russian Losses Mount**
Over the past day, Russian forces suffered significant losses. According to Ukraine’s General Staff, 1,120 personnel were killed or wounded. Ukrainian troops also destroyed 2 tanks, 10 armored combat vehicles, 50 artillery systems, 1 multiple launch rocket system, 205 operational-tactical UAVs, 112 vehicles, and 3 pieces of special equipment.
**Estimated Total Combat Losses**
Since February 24, 2022, Russia’s total combat losses are estimated at: 9,000 personnel killed or wounded; 4,700 tanks, armored combat vehicles, and other heavy equipment destroyed; 6,200 artillery systems and multiple launch rocket systems destroyed; 5,500 operational-tactical UAVs destroyed; 3,600 vehicles destroyed; and 1,300 pieces of special equipment destroyed.
