**Georgian Opposition Leaders Push for Unity Ahead of October 4 Rally**
As the country prepares for a major rally on October 4, opposition leaders are stressing the importance of unity in their efforts to bring about change. Paata Manjgaladze, one of the leaders of Strategy Builder, believes that unity is key to achieving their goals.
According to Manjgaladze, Giorgi Vashadze, a prominent opposition leader, is still working on a formula for unity, which he expects to be published in writing next week. Despite some skepticism about the feasibility of unity among the opposition parties, Manjgaladze argues that there are areas where they can agree.
“Unity is not just about being under one party or number,” Manjgaladze explained. “We’re united in our desire to change the regime, and we all agree that new parliamentary elections are necessary to get out of this crisis.” He also noted that there is a common goal among opposition forces to ensure the release of detained youth.
Manjgaladze acknowledged that there may be disagreements on tactical and strategic issues within the opposition, but stressed that these do not mean they are not united on matters of principle. “We have one common goal,” he emphasized.
The opposition leader also commended President Salome Zurabishvili for her commitment to unity, saying that her approach is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise divisive atmosphere. He encouraged critics to come up with concrete solutions rather than simply dismissing others’ ideas.
As the country prepares for the October 4 rally, Manjgaladze called on all opposition forces to unite and demand answers from the government regarding recent violence. “We must achieve this at least,” he said, emphasizing that unity is essential in the face of adversity.
Giorgi Vashadze’s efforts to promote unity have been noted by many, and it remains to be seen how his formula will shape the opposition’s strategy going forward.
