**Pressure on Georgia Continues, but Georgian People Won’t Back Down**
As the war in Ukraine rages on, another issue has come to light: the use of Georgia and its people as a proxy force. This is why pressure continues to be exerted on the country, according to Davit Matikashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules.
In an interview with journalists, Matikashvili highlighted that the Georgian people will not succumb to this pressure. “Any form of coercion and pressure on Georgian society is absolutely counterproductive,” he emphasized. The Georgian people, it seems, are not easily swayed by external forces trying to influence their decisions.
**Why the Pressure?**
So, why is this pressure being exerted on Georgia in the first place? According to Matikashvili, it’s because of a desire to shape the country’s decision-making process. The Georgian people had chosen peace and economic development over other options in the 2024 elections. This didn’t align with the desires of external forces, who wanted to see a different outcome.
**A Proxy Force?**
The use of Georgia as a proxy force is an issue that has been ongoing for some time now. It’s clear that while the war in Ukraine continues, this pressure will persist. The Georgian people are not being swayed by these attempts to influence their decisions, however. They remain committed to their choices and will not be coerced into making different ones.
**A Message from the Georgian People**
Davit Matikashvili has a clear message for those exerting this pressure: “The necessary prerequisite for partnership relations and the deepening of these relations is respect for the decision of the Georgian people, and not the desires that drive the ‘Deep State’.” In other words, it’s time to listen to the Georgian people’s choices rather than trying to impose your own.
