**Opposition Politician Giorgi Botkoveli Calls for Unity and Resistance Against Ivanishvili’s Regime**
In a recent interview, opposition politician Giorgi Botkoveli made a passionate plea for unity and resistance against the regime of Bidzina Ivanishvili. Speaking on PalitraNews’ program “Day’s Newsroom,” Botkoveli expressed his strong disapproval of Mamuka Khazaradze’s statement that the de-occupation of Georgia from the Russian regime must start in Tbilisi.
Botkoveli argued that submission can never be considered resistance, especially when every structure, from top to bottom, is submissive to Ivanishvili. He pointed out that participating in local elections today would be a betrayal of oneself and those who ended up in prison as a result of the struggle against the Russian regime.
**A Betrayal of Oneself and Others**
Botkoveli emphasized that there is no mechanism for a political party to protect its constituents’ votes, making it impossible to ensure fair representation. He questioned how participating in elections could be seen as resistance when every structure is controlled by one mafioso, Ivanishvili.
“This is not a normal country where every political party participates in elections,” Botkoveli said. “We are entirely within a process controlled by one Russian oligarch. Participating in local elections in any way is, first and foremost, a betrayal of oneself and those who ended up in prison as a result of this struggle.”
**Unity Against the Regime**
Botkoveli emphasized that unity among opposition parties is crucial to defeating Ivanishvili’s regime. He noted that attempting to participate in the game Ivanishvili offers does not mean escaping his punitive process.
“Today is not the time to count who has how many supporters or who will be first, second, or third,” Botkoveli said. “The main thing is that all opposition parties have one primary goal and position. Now, at least.”
**Preventing Local Government Elections**
Botkoveli called on all political parties to come together and focus on preventing the local government elections from taking place. He emphasized that the more active protests are, the more Ivanishvili’s position will be damaged daily.
“The main thing we all need to do together today is unity,” Botkoveli stated. “All political parties must sit together and work to prevent the local government elections from taking place.”
**Support from U.S. and EU**
Botkoveli also commented on the meeting between Foreign Minister Maka Bochorishvili and White Tolker, Senior Advisor at the U.S. State Department. He noted that Ivanishvili is doing everything to shift the country’s course in another direction, and our partners see this clearly.
“The combined support from the United States and EU member states will break what they stand on,” Botkoveli said. “This won’t be a reset mode or revising the approach directly means that our relations with the United States are deteriorated.”
**A Final Verdict for ‘Georgian Dream’**
Botkoveli expressed confidence that the adoption of the ‘MEGOBARI Act’ will deliver a final verdict to ‘Georgian Dream’. He emphasized that this support from U.S. and EU states will sanction individuals who prioritize money over their homeland, country’s future, or people.
“That is Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Botkoveli stated. “His daily actions bring us closer and closer to the state that is our primary enemy and occupier.”
