**Russia Launches Large-Scale Air Attack on Ukraine, Killing at Least Three**
In one of the war’s largest air attacks, Russia launched a massive assault on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and the southern city of Odesa overnight. The attack came as US President Donald Trump urged peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.
**Kyiv Under Siege**
The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russia launched 322 aerial weapons, including drones and missiles, targeting 11 locations in Kyiv. At least three people were killed and over a dozen injured. One woman was killed in the Obolonskyi District, while four men were injured, with two still hospitalized.
The attack caused major fires and destruction across eight city districts, including residential buildings, businesses, and infrastructure. A helicopter was deployed to extinguish a major fire in the Darnytskyi District. Debris damaged homes, cars, a sanatorium, and even a former consulate building of a European country.
**Odesa Under Attack**
In Odesa, two civilian deaths were reported, with nine injuries. One of those killed was a 59-year-old man. The city’s medical facilities came under attack, including a maternity ward, private clinic, sports facility, and zoo. A central railway station building was also damaged.
**Cherkasy Oblast Escapes Unscathed**
In contrast, Cherkasy Oblast’s local air defense shot down 15 Russian drones overnight without any reported injuries or infrastructure damage.
**Analysis: Russia’s Escalation Continues**
This attack comes amid continued US efforts to broker peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow. However, it appears that Russia is ignoring ceasefire calls and escalating its attacks on civilians. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that at least 38 Russian drones may have hit their intended targets.
As the war rages on, Ukraine’s air defenses continue to be tested. This latest attack highlights the ongoing threat to civilians in Ukraine and underscores the need for a sustained international response to stop Russia’s aggression.
**What’s Next?**
The international community must condemn these attacks and pressure Russia to cease its hostilities against Ukrainian civilians. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this escalation will impact the fragile peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow.
